Happy Fucking New Year, mofos! Since I am a millennial, I will add… LOL! 2025 is right around the corner, and it’s a new year. Endless possibilities await us for those lucky enough to be in good health and high spirits. Mark my words, we’ll be dealing with the aftermath of 2024 for years. In the United States, every election year reverberates for decades. Shout out to President Reagan because Reaganomics have been winning every U.S. election since 1980! Yay! #FuckThePoor!
My New Year’s resolution is the same every year: New year, same old me. My definition of “old” has changed since turning 40. I’m well past my youth and have embraced middle age. Even as an elder-elder millennial, I’ll use the Evolving Folks Project to continue to speak truth to power!
2024 in the rearview. We did not know what was in store when Katt Williams paid Club Shay-Shay a visit. Good lord, what a wild ass year. Life always shows us it’s truly a tragic comedy. Our tax dollars continue to fuel the Apartheid State of Israel’s bloodlust as it tries to expand its colonial state in the Middle East. The ongoing genocide forces Palestinians to live with the daily fear of death. Powerful people make huge profits from mass death and destruction while the world passively observes their inaction. My solidarity is with the courageous people of Gaza and the West Bank.
We’ve dealt with assassination attempts on former and returning President Trump’s life this summer. December started out with a bang as alleged shooter Luigi Mangione allegedly shot former United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in broad daylight. Instead of an outcry of rage and disgust at the death of a CEO, we’ve seen the public turn the alleged shooter into a folk hero. Universal health care, through Medicare For All, could have stopped this if only those in power had acted. But those damn Bernie Bros fucked it all up. Individuals across the political spectrum recognize that the health insurance industry is exploiting them and leaving people to face death and sickness due to denying claims.
We had a year of epic personal beefs. We bared witness to the public meltdown and humiliation of the alleged pedo and certified fuckboy Drake. K. Dot owns the assist to both Megan the Stallion and Metro Boomin’. Shout out to the unsung banger of 2024, “BBL Drizzy.” Terrance Howard had a major beef with world-renowned astronomer Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Yep, that was a real thing in 2024. We saw foolishness at the 2024 Summer Olympics because Karen’s gonna Karen.
We end off 2024 with the downfall of Diddy, as another horrible New Yorker reclaimed the Presidency, Donald J. Trump. White folks gonna white folks. Too bad it’s too many sunken-place colored folks who aided in his ascent to the White House again. Plus, the DNC proves their uncanny ability to fumble the bag repeatedly. But with two major political parties in the pockets of corporations, it’s no wonder the everyday folks are cheering the violent death of a CEO in these times of increased homelessness, overpriced groceries, and ridiculous housing costs.
On a personal note, life is moving right along. In October 2024, the Evolving Man Project became the Evolving Folks Project. It happened because some people are out here jacking ideas, but let’s not entertain biters. It was also time for a change or to evolve. The Question Culture Podcast will reach its 100th episode in the New Year.
I want to thank all the folks across the globe who’ve read, commented, shared, liked, and listened to the random thoughts of a brotha living in Wakanda, aka Atlanta. We’re going on nine years strong at the Evolving Folks Project, and one day, I’ll hang it up—just not today. I want to say happy new year, first of all and I wish you a million or two million more.
