The Evolved Woman of the Week: Patricia Ja Lee

Welcome to the Evolving Folks Project’s “Evolved Woman of the Week” profile. Each week, we will highlight an individual who embodies what it means to be an evolved person, famous and non-famous alike. The world needs to know their stories and deeds. This week’s honor goes to the actor, voice actor, and firefighter Patricia Ja Lee.

Known for playing Cassie Chan (Pink Ranger) in “Power Rangers Turbo” and “Power Rangers in Space,” she’s also the voice and motion capture actress for Jill Valentine in many “Resident Evil” video games. Known for playing Cassie Chan (Pink Ranger) in “Power Rangers Turbo” and “Power Rangers in Space”. She’s also the voice and motion capture actress for Jill Valentine in many “Resident Evil” video games. The first season of ASOS Brigade, a series of promotional live-action videos for the show, featured her portrayal of Haruhi Suzumiya. Besides her on-screen roles, Lee also voiced characters in many English-dubbed Japanese anime.

Lee started acting at age 12 in the year 1987. Lee’s big break came ten years later when she secured the role of Cassie Chan (Pink Ranger) in Power Rangers Turbo and its sequel, Power Rangers in Space. Cowboy Bebop featured her as the voice of Meifa Puzi in 1999. 2001 saw Lee cast as the lead in the Golden Harvest action-adventure movie Extreme Challenge.
Bandai Entertainment’s first live-action promotional videos for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya’s R1 license, released December 22, 2006, featured her as Haruhi Suzumiya. She’s credited as Patricia Lee but used Patricia Ja Lee in the initial videos. Before the English dub cast was revealed, speculation arose that she might also voice Haruhi. Patricia was at the Anime Expo’s SOS Brigade concert in July 2007. Cristina Vee took over for her in the second promotional video series. Lee’s role in the Haruhi anime was as Mizuki Okajima, the student band ENOZ drummer. Lee played this role again in The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan.

Volunteering with the Pasadena Fire Department’s EMS Reserve since 2021, Lee has participated in combating the horrific Los Angeles wildfires plaguing the city in January 2025. Though she portrays a hero on screen, she is a real-life hero, too. The Evolving Folks Project expresses appreciation to Patricia and the firefighters of California. Today, we honor Patricia Ja Lee as our Evolved Woman of the Week.
