Everyone Who Was Supposed to Protect You From This Failed Miserably

This is all happening because everyone — every one — who was supposed to protect the American people from this failed in the most miserable, unforgivable ways. It was a catastrophic top-to-bottom failure that many millions of people at home and abroad will be living with, now and long after Trump is no longer leader of a nominally free world.

Vancouver mayor plans freeze on new supportive housing in Downtown Eastside as part of revitalization bid

The mayor says Vancouver has 77 per cent of Metro Vancouver’s supportive services, including housing and shelters, yet only about 25 per cent of the population, and pausing construction would allow the city to “focus on renewing and revitalizing the current aging housing stock.”

Judge grants Māori six more customary marine titles as Govt second guesses its coastline reform

National’s compromise MACA law seven years later declared no one owned the foreshore and seabed – not Māori and not the Crown. It restored any customary rights extinguished by the 2004 law, and provided instead for Māori groups to apply for Customary Marine Title (CMT) recognising that certain areas were held by them and giving them influence over uses in those zones. It covers the area between high-water springs and the 12 nautical mile limit of the territorial sea.

Iwi and hapū around the country have lodged more than 200 court applications for customary marine title. Some have separately chosen to seek CMT in direct negotiations with the Crown.

Dolphins and orcas have passed the evolutionary point of no return to live on land again

The chances of aquatic mammals — like orcas, bottlenose dolphins and whales — ever evolving to live on land again are almost nonexistent, a new study has found. Researchers discovered that the adaptations that allowed these animals to live in water have passed an evolutionary threshold that marks the point of no return to terrestrial life.
