A person who uses the fight for civil rights as an excuse to be rude, condescending, and sometimes violent for the purpose of relieving their frustrations or validating their sense of unwarranted moral superiority. The behaviors of Social justice warriors usually have a negative impact on the civil rights movement, turning away potential allies and fueling the resurgence of bigoted groups that scoop up people who have been burned or turned off by social justice warriors.

Warriors Unite!

There’s been a term that I’ve been introduced thanks to the fruitful dialogue via Twitter and Facebook over the past couple. It’s a term probably coined by Faux News Network or Breitbart News idiots. “Social Justice Warrior,” it’s a term used to condemn liberals and feminist who seek equality. Now, I’m all for challenging white liberals and feminist about their own internalized racism and fuckery. This still doesn’t let conservatives off the hook because the Trumpkins worship a xenophobic, racist, sexist, and jerk of a President.

It’s kinda sad that we live in a society that uses ‘social justice’ as a term to put down each other. Maybe this is part of the culture wars between white liberals and conservatives. I can understand all that, but this term also condemns the countless amount of men and women who have fought for equity, justice, and equality since the dawning of the United States of America. A country that claims there is “liberty and justice for all.” But the prison system and our nations long and tragic history beg to differ if we have liberty and justice for all.

When I think of folks who fought for social justice, I think of the Native Americans who struggled to maintain their culture and heritage for centuries in the face of colonialism. I think of the Black Panthers and civil rights organizers of the 1960s. I think of the Dreamers who want a better life for themselves and families in the face of xenophobia and bigotry. I think of #BlackLivesMatter protestors and Colin Kaepernick. I think of women like Nina Simone, Tarana Burke, and Ida B. Wells. I think of men like Malcolm X, Dr. King, and Fred Hampton.

Idiot conservatives can argue that when they talk of “Social Justice Warrior,” they mean upper-middle-class white college students or white women limousine feminists who love the show Girls. The culture wars between white liberals and conservatives will continue to wage under the Darth Cheeto Administration. But, to use ‘social justice’ as an insult speaks volume about America’s amoral culture, and disrespects the men and women I mentioned above who do fight for truth and justice for all.

With that being said, the next time on Twitter or Facebook when some Trump supporting frat boy or troll calls you a social justice warrior that’s fine. Just next time, make sure they call me, Mr. Navy Veteran Social Justice Warrior!
