Welcome to the Evolving Man Project’s “Evolved Man of the Week” profiles. Each week we will highlight an individual that embodies what it means to be an evolved man, famous and non-famous men alike. The world needs to know their stories and deeds. This week’s honor goes to the Indiana natives, Tre Jones, and Marcus Harvey.
The men saw a house in their neighborhood on flames. They saw people standing in the yard, screaming that a person was still inside the burning house. The victim, 56-year-old Guy Tarlton, fell asleep while cooking dinner. The fire is believed to have started in the oven. Tarlton’s nephew says his uncle’s home had no smoke alarms. Guy is now in critical condition at the hospital, but alive. Here are Marcus and Tre explain their heroic actions and quick thinking that resulted in saving a man’s life.
“So I kicked the door in. When I kicked the door in, fire, smoke, all that came through,” Jones said. “It blew out at me. I see a little tunnel area I can duck down and get underneath the smoke. Now I could hear him a lot more clear so I’m like ‘here I come,’” Jones recalled. “Picked him up, scooted him out the house. When I got to the door, Marcus assisted me. He grabbed by his pants. We dragged him out here. That’s when the firefighters came and stuff.”
Today we honor Tre Jones and Marcus Harvey as our Evolved Men of the Week.
