Cultural Revolutions

If this theory strikes you as ridiculous, it is enough for now to bear in mind that no matter how different you believe China to be from the United States, there are lessons from Ai’s history that are uncomfortably easy to recognize: “If you try to understand your country,” he writes, “it’s enough to put you on a collision course with the law.”

Why Black Revolutionaries Must Stand with the People of Nicaragua

Journalist Gary Webb , author of the groundbreaking book Dark Alliances, exposed how the CIA helped finance its covert war against Nicaragua’s Sandinista government through sales of the powerfully concentrated cut-rate crack cocaine to South Central L.A. drug dealer, Ricky Ross. In orchestrating the “Contra” war against Nicaragua, the U.S. also facilitated the explosion of crack cocaine into Black communities across the U.S., rendering  those communities vulnerable to its domestic war on drugs and mass incarceration.

Singapore will stop covering the medical bills of unvaccinated COVID-19 patients

“This was to avoid financial considerations adding to public uncertainty and concern when COVID-19 was an emergent and unfamiliar disease,” it explained, adding that this system will continue to apply to “the majority who are vaccinated … until the COVID-19 situation is more stable.”

Vapor Storms Are Threatening People and Property

Increasing water vapor deserves more attention. Unfortunately, we cannot directly control the amount of it in the atmosphere. We can, however, reduce it indirectly by reining in the warming caused mainly by our emissions of carbon dioxide and methane, as well as by the clearing of trees that help to absorb carbon from the air. By reducing the warming rate, we can lessen the surge in vapor. If we succeed, we can slow the future intensification of vapor storms—and the havoc they can wreak.
