In the last 40 years, China has become the only global economy to rival the U.S. But President Xi Jinping is cracking down on some of the private sectors, companies and individuals that led to the country’s prosperity. Lesley Stahl reports.

Amazon confirmed the outage and said on the AWS status page that it was “investigating increased error rates for the AWS Management Console.” By Tuesday afternoon, Amazon had yet to fix the issue. “While we have observed some early signs of recovery,” the company said, “we do not have an ETA for full recovery.”

German leaders plan crackdown on unjabbed to tackle Covid surge

Merkel’s spokeswoman on Wednesday said Germany was “in a dramatic situation in the pandemic where new possibilities have to be thought about”.

Germany already announced plans earlier this month to require health workers and soldiers to get inoculated against Covid-19.

“There are so many questions at this point about what the ecological impacts are,” says Haram to Popular Science. “We can expect to see more and more plastic ending up in the middle of the ocean and if our research is any indication that may mean more coastal species as well.”
