On Friday, June 24th, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that granted all women in the United States access to safe abortions. That decision was a setback for women’s rights. The Democratic Party’s way to combat this decision isn’t to fight to codify Woe V. Wade (Despite having 50 years to make abortion access for women the law of the land).
Nope, it’s fundraising for more unless and spineless political leaders that will tweet but not do much more than that when push comes to shove. I’ve already gotta my fundraising emails from ActBlue! What about you? Not only is the overturning of Roe V. Wade a setback for women’s rights, but it’s a violation of personal privacy. Since the Republican Party claims that there’s too much government in your life, but they definitely love to be all up in lady’s womb. A woman’s decision to get an abortion should be between herself and whomever she chooses to consult with, including the person who knocked up her. My libertarian friends have been silent about this landmark decision. I guess because women aren’t semi-automatic assault rifles.
Now, conservative think tanks and Christain fundamentalists have working to overturn abortion rights since the 1970s. They claim it’s all in the interests of protecting unborn babies. But it’s really forcing the religious beliefs of the few upon the many. In reality, these anti-abortion conservatives and blue dog democrats (shout out to Tim Kaine) only care about fetuses and not actual children once they’re born. To quote the infamous comedian George Carlin, “If you’re pre-born, you’re fine; if you’re preschool, you’re fucked.”
The U.S. Doesn’t Give a Shit About Children
If you’re reading this and disagree with my thesis that this country doesn’t give a shit about children. Let’s look at some actual facts about the most advanced backward nation on Earth. For one, we make it quite hard to be a parent in the United States. The uber-wealthy and elites can afford the best for their children. They’ll still have access to safe abortions if they choose to have them. For the rest of you peasants, you’re bringing that baby to full-term no matter what. But once that rugrat is born, fuck them!
The United States does not provide parents national paid maternity leave. Working-class people are in a bigger bind because the federal minimum wage hasn’t increased in decades. In an era of high gas costs, groceries, and hyperinflation, the federal minimum wage is still just $7.25 an hour. Daycare is uber costly and barely affordable for even middle-class families. I guess that’s Comrade Putin’s fault too. So good luck affording a baby when you barely make ends meet. Plus now there’s a national baby formula shortage. God Bless America and no one else!
Also, if you’re a child and you get sick or injured. You’re screwed because the United States doesn’t provide its citizens universal healthcare. That’s socialism, kiddos, and in the U.S. we don’t do socialism! There’s not even a goddamn public option. Thanks, Obama! Those kids should have been born into wealthy families like the Kardashians. If your kid does make it to public school age, watch out. They could become a victim of a horrific school shooting. The cowardly cops won’t protect those kids either, as we saw in Uvdale, Texas. Thanks again to another Supreme Court ruling, cops aren’t here to protect the public. The cops exist to quash rebellion and protect private property if the peasants decide to uprise like folks did in summer 2020. What did you expect from an institution that started as slave patrols? Active shooter drills cause psychological harm to little kids even if they aren’t in a school shooting. Hey, at least elected officials always give their “thoughts and prayers” after every school massacre. So that’s gotta count for something, right?
Before those kids become college co-eds and are burdened with massive student debt. They’ll amass a tremendous amount of school lunch debt first. Hey, those kids need to know there’s no such thing as a free lunch, even if they’re hungry! Look here, my fellow citizens, we need those tax dollars not to fix roads or feed needy children. Nope, we need it for the police to protect rich people from the ‘poors’, and we need that money to bomb poor black and brown children in Yemen and Somalia. Conservative Christians are always quiet about the Military-Industrial Complex, aren’t they? Even if some of the victims of those U.S drone strikes are children and pregnant women. They’re not American and white, so fuck ’em.
Finally, the biggest fuck you to children in God’s greatest country is the awful child abuse and child poverty rates in the United States.
The United States has one of the worst records among industrialized nations – losing on average 5 children every day to child abuse and neglect.
The Catholic Church knows a thing or two about child abuse. If I were you, I’d keep your children away from priests and nuns, but folks are okay with sending their kids to religious schools despite the years of sexual abuse scandals. I think that’s the least safe place you can send a child, but what the fuck do I know?
Sixteen percent of children live in poverty in the United States. That’s over eleven million kids unlucky enough to be born into a poor family. This nation is forcing more people to bring children into this world. Since children aren’t allowed to vote, these harsh realities will remain grim. It’s not like the adults are doing a bang-up job in electing people who give a shit about kids. So maybe we should let the little ones vote. They can’t do any worse than the adults.
The real reasons why Woe V. Wade was overturned
If Conservative Christians cared about kids, the U.S. would look very different for children and their parents. They don’t. A large segment of the majority white population in the U.S. fears the so-called “white genocide.” It’s a ridiculous white supremacist conspiracy theory that white people in the United States will be replaced by black, brown, yellow, and red people. I guess they’re worried they might get treated like minorities. Meaning they’ll get shot by cops for no reason. This segment of white people thinks their numbers are getting lower and lower. Thus they have to keep having more white babies; if not, they’ll be the new slaves! White ones!
It’s also the hatred of women that drives this decision to take away abortion rights. We can’t have those women making family planning decisions or getting trapped by some deadbeat dude. Those women belong in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant! Git me a beer, woman!
The sad thing is many women support this decision by the Supreme Court. Look at the number of white women that voted for Republican President and human Internet troll, Donald J. Trump in both 2016 and 2020. Internalized sexism is a beast, and Darth Beckys have it in spades. As for all the online venom that white liberal women have for Clarence Thomas after the overturning fo Woe v Rade. They fail to mention Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett. The last time I checked, she’s an anti-abortion pro-lifer too!
These same liberal white women are just now realizing their Republican Party, and Libterain-leaning boyfriends and/or hubby’s political stances are not just a difference of opinion. Nope, they’re against fundamental human rights. But I guess supporting the GOP’s anti-immigrant and anti-black rhetoric and policy proposals didn’t forewarn those same white women when they started shacking up with Tanner.
So voting won’t save us from this mess of a situation. As we watch the continuing saga of the Series Finale of the United States. But hey kids, they love you when you turn 18! You can get a gun and join the Army! They’re always hiring! And since you’re probably poor, they’ll definitely take you! Who else is gonna fight Putin and the Russians when we start World War III.
