Ask a Black Dude?

Ask Me a Question?

Have you ever wanted to know what goes on in the mind of the average black dude in America? Even sistas, wish to read the mind of the men who are most closest to them? Today you’ll get the answers to five burning questions from the perspective of a grown ass black man. Now, I can’t speak for every brotha in America or the entire world. And I’m not a magical Negro that’s gonna save white folks with this one post either. But I’m just a Negro with answers to some random ass questions. Enjoy…

How do feel about black love?

Well, the media, Twitter, and the Kardashians will have you believe that black love is dead and brothas are all trying to find their very own Kim. K. Well, it’s sexy to sell the struggle of the single highly educated black woman who can’t find a man. Or all the eligible black men don’t wife up sistas. This is wrong on many accounts. There is the New Jim Crow which has devastated the black community. But on the flip side, black men and women are achieving exceptional levels of success even in the post-Obama era. Yes, according to stats black men are twice as likely to marry outside of race than black women. But most marriages among black folks are two people of the same racial background. I’m sure these stats are the same for my black LGBTQ brothas, and sistas too. For every Donald Glover and his wife (No disrespect), there’s a Jada and Will. So the state of black love is strong, no matter what Being Mary Jane may have you think.

What about interracial dating and relationships?

It’s 2018, folks should feel free to date whomever they want. Fellas just don’t pull a Drake. But seriously, it’s a great time to be young (or older) and single. There are all types of dating apps, meet-up apps, and new ways to meet people who share similar interests. Sometimes those relationships will cross the color line into friendship or romantic ones. That’s cool, and I’m a person who’ve dated outside my race ( a long, long time ago, I’s married now). The only issues that can arise are when people fetishize their partner because of their respective race. Or the illogical belief that a couple’s interracial relationship will upend America’s 500-year history of racist fuckery. It’s not cool, and it won’t. We still have 45, so shout out to the 53%.

Who do you think is the best rapper alive?

This debate is as old as hip-hop itself. So, Imma have to say my man Jaden Smith. Naw, I’m just joking. He’s a far better than his Pops though. He’s just an ICON livin’. Really, it’s too many legends and current emcees who have spit hot fire like Dylan. So that eternal debate will rage on.
